NYC: day 3

Ok almost time to head home. I do miss my minky baby. Today was Mama and Big Girl day while Go Daddy was in important meetings. We slept in, yum! Then we took a cab to the Met. I promised Big Girl this would be a relaxing day, so we did as little walking as possible. Of course, we covered the entire two story museum. She loved the period rooms made up to look like queen’s quarters. She was a little confused by the modern art, but aren’t we all?
We watched different musicians play as we sat on the grand front steps of the museum. Then we made our way around to Central Park. We didn’t have much time, but we were very lucky. We found a playground with a very tall slide and a huge sandbox. Now that’s something you don’t see in NYC every day.

NYC: day 2

Ok I may pass out and it’s only nine o’clock at home. But you only live once, right? We spent the entire day at the Bronx zoo. We saw everything and shut the place down. And it is very big. Like they have a shuttle big. There were polar bears, and the peacocks roamed freely. We took the L train back to Manhattan and were treated to a step dance performance.
We arrived in Times Square and hit up Toys R Us. They have a ferris wheel and a dinosaur in the store! Then we spent a considerable amount of time at the Disney store and bought presents for the girls. We finished a relatively early evening with some Pinkberry, which is pretty dang awesome.

NYC: day 1

We finally made it to NYC. Go Daddy comes here for work pretty often, but we never quite make it on the flight with him. This time Big Girl and I are along for the ride. Of course she was perfect on the plane, this being her 250th flight. When we arrived, she exclaimed,”It’s so sparkly!” She was enamored of all the big buildings. I dare say her favorite was the two story Disney store in Times Square. She thought the taxi was brilliant and the subway delightful. We ate a large and expensive dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe and rolled into our hotel room rock and roll style around midnight.

Bridezilla

This is the conversation I had with Big Girl at bedtime tonight.
“I am going to have rainbow dresses at my wedding. You can cut them out of my blanket. Do you have a rainbow dress? You need to get one. I need to write Suzie a note. Can you write it for me? It will say please come to my house and come to my wedding. Love, me.”
I asked Big Girl what kind of paper she would like to use.
“We can use the Wonder Woman paper. (yes, we have some). I can color it.”
I reminded her that she had already colored a lot of it, to which she replied, “Mom, this is my wedding. I will plan it.”

Zoozeum

This is what Little Sis calls the museum. We went today just because. The girls spent a whole hour digging for dinosaur bones. They had so much fun, and I had so much fun watching them. I actually took a moment to say to myself, “This is really nice!”
It was sunny but not hot, which is very rare where we live. There was a nice breeze and a bit of shade. There were even butterflies flitting about and birds chirping and everything.
I thought, “God made this day just for me!”. The thing is, He really did. And that’s pretty amazing.

A Very Good Friday

Happy good Friday everyone. Are you allowed to say that? Well, we had a fantastic day. We spent the morning at Aunt Dani’s new house. It is a home ripe for blessings. I could not be happier for them. Little Sis got a good nap, and Go Daddy came home relatively early. We headed to Central Market for sushi (me) salsa (Go Daddy) and dancing. Big Girl had so many dance partners we were beginning to get nervous. By the end of the evening, we were all dancing. Not to sound cheesy, but it was a full orange moon tonight. The kind that look so big they almost don’t seem real. We could see not just stars but planets overhead. It really was a beautiful night. Thank you, Jesus.

Butterflies

A couple years back when Little Sis was a tiny thing, I took the girls to see the butterflies in the gardens. It was so much fun. We skipped last year as Little Sis finds being held offensive, and they do not allow strollers in the conservatory.
This year I thought the girls were the perfect ages to go again. We went with cousins in matching UT cheerleader dresses and took many precious pictures which I will probably forget to print. It was really an amazing exhibit.
We decided to let the girls run free in the gardens after all the, “don’t touch,” and “don’t climb on that.” As Julia Roberts said, “big mistake! Huge.”
Aunt Dani was paying attention to her little ones. I was all, “oh they’re fine.” Well, apparently my girls had found a mud pit and were ankle and wrist deep in it. No worries. They were wearing crocs. I’ll just hose them off. If that is, I had a key to turn on the locked water faucets.
No problem, we’ll wash off in the bathroom. Well, Little Sis took of in one direction while I told Big Girl to, “sit down and do not move even if Aunt Dani asks you to!” The poor security guard looked confused as to whether or not he should grab my wayward child, but I got to her first.
We finally made it into the bathroom, but those darn automatic sinks were no help in cleaning grass caked and mud covered shoes. The water went off every time I tried to fish out a handful of mud, and pretty soon the sink was backed up. They called in a cleaning crew, and I apologized profusely. It will be another couple years before we visit the butterflies again.
